Our Journey

Cassandra Auguste‑René is a committed community leader, event entrepreneur, and advocate for Black-owned businesses and social impact in Ottawa. As founder of It's Time Event Management, she created a platform to uplift Black entrepreneurship and build community through impactful, large‑scale events such as the Ottawa Black Business Expo — a recurring showcase that brings together Black‑owned businesses, entrepreneurs, and service providers under one roof.

Her leadership, vision, and dedication to community-driven economic empowerment have earned her notable honours. She was recognized as one of Canada’s Top 100 Black Women to Watch in 2022. In addition, her work with It’s Time has been acknowledged with the Think Ottawa 2025 Award — a testament to the impact and excellence of her efforts.

Outside of her entrepreneurial pursuits, Cassandra is active in social service and community support, including her role as president of the foster parent association for The Children’s Aid Society of Ottawa. Through that work and by opening her home to foster youth, she demonstrates a personal commitment to social welfare and family support.

Driven by purpose, Cassandra remains dedicated to creating events and spaces that empower social enterprises, amplify underrepresented voices, and foster stronger, more connected communities. Her work stands as a powerful example of how entrepreneurship and social responsibility can go hand in hand.
